It was a beautiful day at the Classics and Retro Show. The car was on display on the Classics Monthly stand, joint sponsors of the event. I decided to go for an early run up the strip before things got busy, the range of machinery there was amazing, from street sleepers like the bog stock looking Granada with a supercharged V8 to the stunning jet car that put on two demmo runs. Wow.

The best starting procedure is to first warm the tyres by spinning them in the designated area just before the start line, then line the car up, left foot firmly on the brake and hold the throttle half open to take the reves to the stall speed.
However, the day was hot and I forgot.
The lights went green and I floored the throttle, I was immediately greeted by the screech of wheel spin. the revs went up to 2500, the stall speed of the torque converter, and stayed there until the car caught up with it at about 25mph.
I moved the stick to 2nd as the rev counter hit 6000rpm knowing that the duration of the shift would let the engine go to 6500 before second was engaged. The up shift gave a small surge from engine inertia and it continued up to the peak power speed of 5500rpm as we crossed the finish line.
